Though not affiliated with AHG, volunteers and city staff have been working to remove buckthorn and other invasive species from Floral Park for many years. Some of the invasive species being managed in Floral Park include:

• common buckthorn
• garlic mustard
• burdock

We’re excited that the city has partnered with Great River Greening to help us with our park restorations and Floral will be the first park to benefit from their years of experience and grant funding! As of Feb. 2025, the contracted buckthorn removal has begun.
